Keep the Music Going
Simply put, I'm not in this for the money. I make most of my work available for free because many musicians, especially students and those in developing countries, wouldn't have access to it otherwise. I'm not published by any large house. So while this isn't the best system, it's the best we've got for now. I'm depending on you to uphold your end of the social bargain. If you're enjoying my music, you should send me a couple of bucks. It's just the right thing to do.
The money you send helps by:
1) Subsidizing the cost of paper, pens, printer ink, etc.
2) Facilitating access for poorer musicians and audiences to my work
3) Maintaining this website
4) Granting me some small degree freedom to compose independently
5) Offsetting the cost of necessary software/hardware
6) Making my day great
So how much should you send? Put yourself in my shoes.
How much is an hour of your free time worth? Imagine you've got a family and two kids. Imagine you've got a 9-5 job, but your creative work has to be done on nights, weekends, and vacations. How much would you charge per hour if you were putting 20, 30, 200, or more hours into a project? (yes, some pieces take that long to write)
I'm not expecting a lot, but I appreciate whatever you can do. Thanks.
