Four Catalan Songs

For Baritone and Strings/Piano

The Four Catalan Songs were commissioned in 2014 by the New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra with the support of an Artistic Innovation Award from the Middlesex County Cultral and Heritage Commission.  The texts, written by Vicent Andrés Estellés and beautifully translated by Jan Reinhart, span a vast emotional breadth encompassing sentiments of hope, tender romance, fear of death, and rage.
